Crisis and TDS partnership achieves 93% year-on-year growth in PRS outcomes

As part of TDS’ mission to raise standards in the private rented sector (PRS) and deliver meaningful social impact, we launched a major three-year partnership with national homelessness charity Crisis in 2024.

At the heart of this partnership, the TDS Charitable Foundation is funding five Housing Access Specialist roles who help people experiencing – or at risk of – homelessness secure safe, stable PRS homes. The Housing Access Specialists work directly with landlords, building trusted relationships and tackling misconceptions about letting to Crisis members.

Momentum is building

The latest results show just how powerful this partnership has become.

In the past quarter alone, PRS outcomes increased by 93% year-on-year, including:

  • 86 people supported into PRS accommodation

  • 30 people prevented from losing their homes

Since launching in July 2024, the partnership has now helped 454 people in total to secure or sustain PRS housing.

This success reflects the impact of the TDS-funded roles as well as stronger landlord relationships, improved marketing, and better local systems.

Across key regions, Housing Access Specialists now maintain 218 active landlord relationships, creating an expanding network of affordable homes for those who need them most.

Yasmin’s story: From survival to stability

“I had nowhere. I hadn’t had proper rest in days, I knew I couldn’t go on”

Yasmin’s story shows the human impact behind the numbers. After losing her job suddenly, Yasmin was forced into homelessness – sleeping rough in shopping centres and on public transport, where she faced verbal abuse.

Thankfully, Yasmin reached out to Crisis where she met housing coach Will. With his support, she was introduced to a landlord willing to accept housing benefit. Within weeks, Yasmin had the keys to her own room in a safe, all-female shared house.

This gave her the stability she needed to start rebuilding her life.

Stories like Yasmin’s show that the private rented sector can be part of the solution to homelessness. We’re proud to work with Crisis to make more stories like Yasmin’s possible.

The Crisis and TDS Charitable Foundation partnership is helping people experiencing homelessness secure safe, affordable homes in the private rented sector (PRS).
